Phat Rock is a genre of music that has grown from the resurgence of the live music scene in the UK and the underground hip hop. It is a fusion of the energy of live music and the lyrical concerns and performance of hip hop.
Bands such as Imperial Leisure, Lazy Habits, 8 Fold have all made their mark touring up and down the UK spreading the gospel of live hip hop music. New faces such as Works in Progress and Jonny Virgo are pushing this movement too. The strength of this music is its diversity, nights feature bands who's backgrounds range from Ska to Jazz to Funk and Indie Rock, all entertaining crowds with live hip hop flavours.
